Native English with strong German roots
As a Brit living in Germany from the age of three to eleven, I grew up switching naturally between English at home and German at school – a bilingual upbringing that laid the foundations for my work as a professional translator.
I spent an ERASMUS year in Germany as part of my degree at the University of Nottingham, and went on to live in Berlin from 2015 to 2018 – experiences that helped me further hone my language skills and deepen my cultural insight. I currently live in Sheffield, England, which gives my clients the benefit of close proximity to the UK market – and with it, translations that are idiomatic, culturally nuanced and in tune with current trends and usage.

More than 22 years’ experience
I started out as a professional German-to-English translator back in 2003 and have translated and edited millions of words since then.
Most of the 700 or so assignments I complete each year come from premium language service providers in Switzerland, a country known for its high standards. I also work regularly with agencies and direct clients in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. Many of these partnerships go back years, reflecting the trust I have earned through my high-quality work, reliability and professionalism.

Translation and subject-matter expertise
I specialise in translating and transcreating marketing and corporate communications texts – from websites, brochures and press releases to annual reports and sustainability reports. Over the past two decades, I have translated for companies in a wide range of fields and sectors, particularly finance, real estate, sustainability, tech, HR and hospitality.
My translation expertise is backed by a Joint Honours Degree in Management Studies and German from the University of Nottingham, a course that combined German language, literature and translation with business modules such as marketing, finance & accounting, sustainability, HR management, technology and information systems. I also studied business and marketing at Bergische Universität Wuppertal in Germany. Combined with my hands-on translation experience, this dual-language academic background gives me a solid understanding of the concepts and terminology in my specialist subjects.
